The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
This course is designed primarily for social work students but is generally suitable for anyone preparing to enter the helping profession. The course aims to introduce the application of reflexivity (reflection) in helping processes. The course will help participants to understand the concept of the reflective worker and support them in developing practices to take a stand on their own actions and experiences independently/ or in collaboration with others. We will introduce reflection as a tool that can potentially improve and transform practice. We introduce reflection and reflection as an essential element of good, quality, and effective practice.
Learning outcomes
- define and clarify the main principles of reflective practice;
- Identify and describe the main benefits of reflective practice;
- describe and use the different reflective practice tools;
- identify the main tools for working with emotions in professional work;
- engage users and other actors in reflecting on situations;
- identify and manage risks in professional work;
- engage in reflective learning;

Assessment methods
1/ Essay:
This task accounts for 40% of the overall grade, equivalent to approximately 3.2 credits.
- Workload: A total of 80-100 hours of work, including all preparation and presentation stages.
- Activities:
-- Developing a topic proposal (10 hours)
-- Conducting a thorough literature review (30 hours)
-- Creating the content and writing the essay (20 hours)
-- Preparing the presentation (10 hours)
-- Delivering the presentation and discussion (10 hours)

2/ Application and Evaluation of Reflective Practice:
This task represents 50% of the overall grade, equivalent to approximately 4 credits.
- Workload: A total of 100-120 hours of work, including all preparation, application, and evaluation stages.
- Activities:
-- Planning and designing the application (15 hours)
-- Implementing the methods in a selected environment (40 hours)
-- Writing down the experience and analyzing it (25 hours)
-- Creating and presenting the final evaluation (20 hours)

3/ Attendance:
Attendance in the course accounts for 10% of the overall grade, equivalent to approximately 0.8 credits.
- Workload: Active participation in lectures and seminars, totaling 20-25 hours.
- Activities:
-- Attendance at all scheduled meetings (10 hours)
-- Active participation in discussions and seminars (10-15 hours)
