- The course is aimed at foreign undergraduate students wishing to acquire basic knowledge and skills in French through English.

- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to master the basics of the French language. The level of knowledge achieved in the two-semester course according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages corresponds to level A1. Emphasis is placed on the active use of the basics of French and on the development of the ability to communicate in basic everyday situations.
- Learning outcomes
- The student will be able to:
Greet people and say goodbye
Understand instructions in French class
Ask questions in class
Say his/her name and his/her age
Give the date
Talk about their nationality
Talk about their professions
Talk about their likes and dislikes
Ask and give directions

- 1. Greeting People: Exchanging greetings; Saying goodbye; Asking someone how s/he is and answering
- 2. Exchanging in class: Understanding instructions in French class; Asking questions in class
- 3. Introducing yourself (1): Saying your name and your age; Asking someone's name and age; Giving the date
- 4. Introducing yourself (2): Talking about nationality; Talking about professions
- 5. Talking about your likes and dislikes: Talking about likes and dislikes; Talking about sports and leisure activities you like or dislike
- 6. Giving directions: Giving someone your address and asking someone his/her address; Asking and giving directions

- Assessment methods
- Final test based on the content of the course. In order to pass, the student must obtain at least 60% from the test. It is possible to earn bonus points by successfully completing assignments in Duolingo.
