- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to introduce students to the issue of domestic violence and its systemic and therapeutic solutions. In the course of the course, students will become familiar with basic theories, the psychology of victims and perpetrators of violence, the neurophysiology of trauma, and we will also mention the legal options for solving this problem. Within case studies, practical demonstrations and exercises, students will gain an insight into working with all actors of the family system in which violence occurs.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, students will be able to:
- use information from the course for personal and professional development
- recognize the occurrence of violence and its types
- understand the basic dynamics of violent relationships and their actors
- determine the necessary steps to ensure safety in the family
- choose an appropriate approach for the systemic solution of various forms of violence in the family - Syllabus
- 1st block: Historical context of work with violence in the family. Prevalence of violence. Definition of violence. Basic theoretical currents. Typology of partner violence. Introducing the actors. System care.
- 2nd block: Work with an endangered person. System of care for an endangered person. Effects of violence on the person at risk. Ensuring basic safety and security. Risk Assessment. Therapeutic work with an endangered person. Practice.
- 3rd block: Work with the perpetrator of violence. Problems and risks when working with the originator. Different therapeutic approaches. The basics of working with anger, a practical self-experiential exercise.
- 4th block: Working with the family system. Effects on children affected by violence and their care. Work with case studies, exercises in model situations.
