- Course objectives
- This course surveys basic information about political history in the selected countries of Central and South-Eastern Europe in the 20th century. The course is focused on history of Austria, Yugoslavia, Ukraina, Belarus and Poland which are specific examples of possibilities of political development in Central Europe.
- Syllabus
- 1. Introduction: atomisation of Central and Eastern Europe after the First World War; 2. Austrian First republic and Nazi ocupation; 3. Austrian Second republic; 4. Yugoslavia between the World Wars; 5. Yugoslavia in the years 1941-1985; 6. The dissolution of Yugoslavia 1985-1991; 7. Ukraina in the era of Lenin and Stalin; 8. Ukraina between Chruščov and independence; 9. Belarus 1918-1953; 10. Belarus 1953-1991; 11. Poland in the years 1918-1939; 12. Poland in the years 1939-1989; 13. Closing test.
