- Course objectives
- The course will focus on the development and principles of the foreign policy of the independent Czech Republic. The students will learn about theoretical background of the Czech foreign policy, its practical form, and about the foreign policy conceptions of the Czech political parties. The teaching involves a series of seminars.
- Syllabus
- 1) Prolegomena, theoretical background of the foreign policy research 2) Geopolitical position of the CR, Czechoslovak foreign policy in the 20th century 3) Shift in the foreign policy strategy in 1989-1992, impact of the division of Czechoslovakia 4) Foreign policy of the CR after 1992 (Visegrád etc.) 5) Ekonomical aspects of the foreign policy of the CR - EU, CEFTA, OECD 6) Security aspects of the foreign policy of the CR - NATO 7) Foreign policy of the CR and global international organisations (UN etc.) 8) Foreign policy of the CR in relation to the neighbouring states 9) Foreign policy of the CR as seen by the Czech political parties of the right 10) Foreign policy of the CR as seen by the Czech political parties of the left
