- Course objectives
- The course is focused on development of international relations from the Congress in Vienna till the outbreak of First World War. Historical approach will be combined with system analysis of the changes of patterns of international relations during the 19th century.
- Syllabus
- 1. Introduction; 2. International system in the 19th century and changes in its structure; 3. Congress in Vienna and concert of powers before 1848; 4. Crimean war and relations of powers 1848-1860; 5. Unification of Italy and its consequences; 6. Unification of Germany 1815-1871; 7. Colonial expansion of European states; 8. Triple Alliance and its problems; 9. Long way to the Triple Entente; 10. Balkan question; 11. Dynastic versus power politics - way to the First World War; 12. Test.
