Course objectives

Seminar called Psychologist in Palliative care introduces new domain palliative medicine that provide complex and multidisciplinary care about patients in terminal phase of the disease. Psychologist is important part of medical staff because by his specific knowledge and skills participates on care about whole human (bio-psycho-spiritual-social principle). Students will acquire basic theoretical information about specific psychological, medical and spiritual needs of terminal patients and will be acquainted with meanings and forms of palliative care as they are implemented in Hospices and Nursing homes. PhDr. Martina Kosová former psychologist of Masaryk onkological institute in Brno, guides one lesson. Theme breaking bad news is the object of theoretical and practical interest. Parts of teaching are self-experience techniques that could help students to integrate death to their own lives also on experience level.

Syllabus (in Czech)

• Osnova: Vymezení paliativní medicíny, pozice a role psychologa v paliativním péi. Formy paliativní pée a jejich uplatnní v R (hospic, domácí hospicová pée, paliativní oddlení nemocnic a LDN). Djiny umírání historicko-psychologický exkurz. Fenomén smrti v ontogenezi lovka vývojové hledisko. Jak se dnes umírá v R? nedostatky a možnosti rozvoje pée o umírající aneb co ukázal výzkum mezi odborníky a pozstalými. Osobnost termináln nemocného pacienta. Medicínské aspekty umírání. Psychologické pístupy k nevyléiteln nemocným, krizová intervence, možnosti psychoterapie. Specifika komunikace s tžce nemocným pacientem. Informování pacienta o jeho zdravotním stavu (breaking bad news) - souasné evropské a americké modely. Práce s rodinou nemocného, starost o pozstalé (bereavement care). Etické a právní aspekty sdlování. Jak vést rozhovor s nemocným / pozůstalými - praktická ukázka. Jak zacházet s faktem vlastní smrtelnosti? (sebezkušenostní techniky)

Assessment methods (in Czech)

Termíny výuky: 1.3., pozor 15.2. výuka odpadá, místo ní bude exkurze v hospici v Rajhrad u Brna, 29.3., 12.4., 26.4. (seminá vede PhDr. Martina Kosová, nkdejší psycholožka MOU Brno), 10.5., 24.5. Seminá se koná v místnosti . 23 na FSS od 16.00 do 19.30. Návštva hospice v Rajhrad u Brna se uskutení v pátek 31.3.2006. Odjezd z Brna hl. nádraží vlakem v 8.22, zaátek programu 9.00, návrat vlakem z Rajhradu 12.33 (Brno 12.52) nebo 13.33 (Brno 13.49). Zakonení formou zápotu udlovaného na základ odevzdání a pijetí eseje v rozsahu 8 000 znak (v. mezer). Témata: 1) odborná recenze knihy nebo filmu s relevantní tématikou 2) psychologická reflexe vlastní zkušenosti se smrtí blízkého 3) odborné zpracování relevantního tématu formou vdecké eseje Podmínkou ukonení je také petení text publikovaných ve složce "studijní materiály".
