- Main objective of the course is the analysis of the ancient wars.
- Syllabus
- 1. Strategy in the ancient Greece and its determinants 2. Greek-Persian wars 3. Peloponesian war as a model conflict (seminar) 4. Rise of Macedonia and expedition of Alexander (seminar) 5. Followers of Alexander 6. Strategy in the ancient Rome and its determinants 7. Second Punic war as model conflict (seminar) 8. Expansion in the Mediterranean 9. Crisis of the republic in the 1st century B.C., civic war (seminar) 10. Late republic and imperial Rome, expansion in the Europe 11. Defence of the Empire 11. Rome at the end of the anciet era 12.
