- Course objectives
- The goal of the course is to make students familiar with the evolution of the French foreign and security policy since World War II. Special attention will be paid to the evolution of Franco-American and Franco-German relations, to the decolonization of French empire and to the foreign and security policy of Charles de Gaulle and his successors.
After the completion of this course, students should be able to: identify key themes of French foreign policy in the second half of the 20th century; explain the evolution of the French foreign policy and the impact of various foreign-policy actors and analyze French policy toward major world regions and issues. - Syllabus
