- Course objectives
- The theme of the course is the study of reproduction of human population, where special concern is given to the particularities of Czech population. The first part of the course offers introduction to the field and description of the (socio) demographic structure. Thus, age and sex structure along with socioeconomic status, education, religion and ethnicity is explained. This first part of the course ends with chapter about households. The second part of the course is oriented on population processes, where fertility, mortality, nuptiality, abortions and divorces problems along with migration are analyzed. The final chapter deals with population development worldwide. The aim of the course is to familiarize students with: (1) terminology, methodological equipment and basic concepts of demography; (2) development of the Czech population at the context of European and world population development.
