Prerequisites
The seminar is prepared for the students of master degree study of psychology and psychotherapy and is finished with a credit. It is designed as a part of applied psychotherapy approaches who try to demonstrate the situations and thinking as close as possible to the clinical practice. The weekend seminar is considered as a free continuation of an Autumn seminar ‘Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy’. Every student should chose her/his preferred psychoanalytic school/movement. Student will prepare 15 minutes PowerPoint presentation (maximum 10 slides) on the most significant contributions of this specific approach. The main reason for advanced reading is to be able represent the chosen psychoanalytic school in group discussions.

Course objectives
After succesful graduation or the course a student will be able to:
understand and explain specifics of psychoanalyticaly orientated thinking and epistemology; use acquired knowledge for presentation of chosen approach in front of a class; interpret clinical cases with use of acquired basic understanding of psychoanalytic approach;

  • - Principal models of mind in psychoanalysis (topographical, structural, kleinian, bionian) - The meaning and use of theory in psychoanalysis - Accents and central ideas characterising different theoretical groupings of each theoretical schools of psychoanalysis - Critical evaluation of the claims, theories and nature of evidence in the area of psychoanalytic theory

Teaching methods
theoretical lecture; demonstration of chosen theoretical concepts on clinical cases and scenarios; student´s own 15 minutes PowerPoint presentation (maximum 10 slides) on the most significant contributions of this specific approach;
Assessment methods
observation of active presence of student during the course, his/her taking part in a discussion and analysis of presented clinical cases; evaluation of 15 minutes Power Point presentation which is prepared by each student at the end of the course - the ability of a consistent view on a chosen psychoanalytic approach, work with literture and understanding of basic psychoanalytic concepts are evaluated;
