- Course objectives
- Social theory of new media aims to map contemporary theoretical reflection of ICT, with focus on main themes related to sociological, anthropological and communication research and theory of new media. On successful completion of the course, students will be able to discuss issues of public sphere, identity, embodiment, politics and power, community, forms of computer mediated communication and structural change of society. Next to it, they will learn to analyze topics of up-to-date social scientific reflection on this field. Last but not least, they will be able to evaluate new technologies as a social phenomenon and define the position of the critical approach to technologies.
