- Course objectives
- The main objectives of the course are the following:
to acquainte students with the basics of botany with respect to the nature and landscape conservation and to the endangered species; to identify the causes of endangerement and possibilities of their protection.
At the end of the course students should be able to understand and explain range of topics ranking from the population biology of species, methods of time and space vegatation changes to vegetation data analysis. - Syllabus
- 1. Introduction, brief review of the history of botany as a science. Introduction to morphology, plant adaptation.
- 2. Histology - plexus, functions. Morphology - plant organs - root.
- 3. Morphology - plant organs - stem, leaf, flower, inflorescence, fruit, seed distribution.
- 4. Photosynthesis - principles, chlorophyle, plant adaptation C3, C4 aCAM).
- 5. Plant system.
- 6. Population ecology - Onosma visianii, Globularia punctata.
- 7. Phytocenology. natural and semi-natural vegetation types.
- 9. Phenology, plant migration, plant invasion.
- 10. Endangered species, conservation management.
- 11. Plant conservation in urbanised landscape.
