Course objectives
The course SOC 469 follows on BA course SOC 110 and is focused on current migration trends in times of late modernity and of the globalized world. SOC 469 conceptualize various dimensions of modern citizenship and analyze its borders in globalized era. At the same time, it elaborates on impact of the citizenship on transnationalism and analyze integration of migrants in liberal-democratic regimes. SOC 469 de-territorialize national identity and analyze displacement of migrants. SOC 469 also elaborate on a specific problem - issues of integration of muslims and if their identities within the EU. Course further on operationalize problems of diasporas in a globalized world and tackles specific issue of tourism as a migrational consumerism. In conclusion, the course analyze EU public policies in issues of migration and integration.

Teaching methods
Students systematically read reading materials for each seminar a they should demonstrate knowledge of obligatory readings. Power-point presentations are ready for every seminar and they are available to students.
Assessment methods
Conditions for passing te exam:
1. Systematic work on readings;
2. Public policy oriented prezentation (up to 20 minutes)
3. Final essay (minimally 10 pages);
4. Oral exam - defense of an essay and discsssion over the content of the course.
