Course objectives
The introdution of the basic principles and approaches to psychologic assessesment of chidren, adolescents and family is the aim of the course. Focus is on the process of assessment and choice of useful metods in diagnostic situation. Particular assessment tools are described in broder developmental and psychopathological contexts. Course graduate should be able to choose relevant diagnostic methods for identifying trouble of children.
Syllabus
  • a) General assessesment: 1.basic principles of psychological assessment (theoretical models: psychoanalysis, social learning, socal cognition, behaviourism, integrative approach, diagnostics and psychological intervention – consultation, therapy, etics of assessesment, objectivity, quantitative and qualitative informations, type of assessment tools). 2.Diagnosis, systems of diagnostic classification (problem formulation, assessment questions, diagnostic hypothesis, method choice, diagnosis construction, differential diagnosis, developmental diagnosis, characteristics of children assessment, sources of diagnosis, DSM IV, ICD 10, multiaxial assessment systém accordig to Achenbach and Edelbrock). 3. Behavior observation, assessment interview, anamnesis. 4.Peer-rating, sociometric procedures, self-evaluation scales and questionnaires, 5.Assessment of intelligence and other competencies 6.Projective methods b) Assessment in practice: 7. Assessment of early and preschool development 8. Assessment of school achievment (mental deficits, partial learning disabilities) 9. Assessment of external and internal troubles (ADHD/ADD, behaviour disorders, emocional troubles, neurotic problems, social realtions, autism). 10. Assessment of neuropsychologic troubles (perceptional and motoric disorders, organicity) 11. Assessment of family and forensic diagnostics 12. Process of assessment, report of asssesment.
