Course objectives
This course is intended to help masters students improve their overview in the field of marrital and couple therapy. The course introduces some of major schools, concepts, or approches in the field used particularly in the contemporary counselling and therapy centers. Special attention is given to learning effective methods of interventions, skills, explanations and techniques to work with couples "in troubles". Also focus on Internet based counselling is given as a part of the ocurse.

  • 1. References to sources related to the field of marrital and couple counselling.
  • 2. History and key concepts of marrital therapy (1)
  • 3. History and main concepts of family therapy - personalities and their thoughts and schools.
  • 4. Marrital and couple therapy today.
  • 5. Contemporary family therapy.
  • 6. Dynamic of the couples (early stages in the couple life, marriages and divorces).
  • 7. Communications in the couples and families.
  • 8. Scripts and patterns.
  • 9. Systemic (and "family systems") view of point.
  • 10. Case studies in the field.
