- Prerequisites
- The aim of the course is to make students acquainted with the development of key problems in mutual relations between the Russian Federation and European states. Significant part of the course is devoted to the development of relations between Russia and the European integration organizations with special emphasis on the European Union and the development of relations between EU and Russia. After a short historic introduction, which focuses on the importance of the European dimension of the Russian external policy from the historical-philosophical point of view the lectures and seminars focuses on the development of the role of the European dimension among the priorities of the Russian foreign policy after 1991 (European dimension among the priorities of the foreign and security policies of presidents Jelcin, Putin and Medvedev, the development of Russian foreign policy and security doctrines with the emphasis on the European dimension,

- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to make students acquainted with the development of key problems in mutual relations between the Russian Federation and European states. Significant part of the course is devoted to the development of relations between Russia and the European integration organizations with special emphasis on the European Union and the development of relations between EU and Russia. After a short historic introduction, which focuses on the importance of the European dimension of the Russian external policy from the historical-philosophical point of view the lectures and seminars focuses on the development of the role of the European dimension among the priorities of the Russian foreign policy after 1991. After the end of the course students should be able to understand and explain the role of the European dimension among the priorities of the foreign and security policies of presidents Jelcin, Putin and Medvedev. They will be able to work with the information about the development of Russian foreign policy and security doctrines with the emphasis on the European dimension, to explain the role of the European dimension of Russian foreign policy in particular ideological conceptions and intellectual schools (liberalism, eurasianism, Russian geopolitics). The students will be able to interpret and map the most important topics with the emphasis on security and economic relations, (including the topic of energy security) in relations between Russia and the countries of Western, Southern, Central and Eastern Europe.

- Teaching methods
- Lectures are accompanied with 6 seminars with class discussions and active participation of the students. Students are obliged to submit 6 position papers, 1 for each seminar based on particular texts. The aim of the seminars id to support and enhance the ability of the students to present own ideas and positions connected with the particular discussed topics. Reading consists of compulsory and complementary literature that broadens the knowledge obtained by the students during the lectures and seminars.

- preparation and submission of 6 position papers during the course (presentation of ideas included in the papers during seminar and seminar discussions) written test during the course final oral examination
