Course objectives
The aim of the seminars is to understand actual drug issue and to become more familiar with basic techniques of working with clients and family. At the end of the course the student should be able to:
- name basic risk and projective factors leading to problem emergences within drug abuse
- distinguish and compare phases of abuse and assess types of the clients
- freely discuss and argue in the chosen themes
- lead simple prevention program in accordance to the age of the participants
- critically assess the used methods and forms of intervention - use knowledge in the practical level to practice and solving of model situation
- argue, express reasons and assess their work and the work of the other students
Syllabus
  • The introduction into drug abuse issue, current drug situation in CZ, bio-psycho-social model of individual drug dependence origin, determination of particular phases /short characteristics of short term and long term effects and symptoms of certain drugs/
  • Working standards in organizations
  • Primary, secondary and tertiary drug abuse prevention in CZ
  • Methods of work, practical training /techniques of working with clients/ - motivational interview - effective psychotherapeutic techniques for people with drug abuse - working with drug user family – Crisis intervention
