Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to demonstrate students with basic sources information on the EU: the primary and secondary documents, electronic sources, major news portals, information centres and databases. It is aimed at students, who start to orient themselves in terms of European integration. Primarily, the course is practice-oriented.
Learning outcomes
Identify the information sources about the EU.
Classify and categorize electronic sources.
Analyse documents of the primary and the secondary law of the EU.
Use existing EU databases.
Syllabus
  • The course is divided into three main parts:
  • 1. Information sources on the EU, primarily in electronical form, presentation of important servers, categorization, Internet portals, debates with expert
  • 2. A basic orientation inside the treaties and their revisions (primary law of the EU), their hierarchy and conception.
  • 3. An orientation in the secondary law of the EU, online searching, work with EU databases.

Teaching methods
Lectures, internet presentations, work with electronical resources and databases, drill - EU documents searching, practical homework.
Assessment methods
The course is finished with a credit. To acquire credit it is obligatory to attend the discussion with experts and to accomplish the practical task. It is based on a research and an analysis of relevant documents of the EU including the description of the methods, how the student solved the given problem.
