Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the methods of journalistic work. The course is focused on methods of searching, processing and presenting information, which is common in professional journalistic practice. Students will be able to apply this knowledge to practical assignments and tasks in seminars. Completing the course is also crucial for mastering the creative journalistic bachelor thesis. The complexity of the course is based on the requirements of the application sphere, as elaborated in the market analysis.
Learning outcomes
Students after completing the course:
- know the professional journalistic methods and can apply them to practical tasks;
- can critically evaluate, search for, work with, and analyze information resources;
- can independently gain relevant information for journalistic work and create an appropriate journalistic product.

  • 1. Basic rules of journalistic methods.
  • 2. Searching for sources of information, work with resources and information, typology of information sources.
  • 3. Search for information on the Internet.
  • 4. Work with databases.
  • 5. Geting information in archives.
  • 6. Research.
  • 7. Interviewing as journalistic method.
  • 8. Observation as journalistic method.
  • 9. Working with information - searching, sorting, analysis, interpretation.
  • 10. Analysis and interpretation of data in journalism.
  • 11. Ethics and legislation relating to work with resources and information.
