Course objectives
Students are required to conduct independent research in their chosen area of study under the guidance of their supervisor. At the end of the course, students will analyze the results of their research and prepare a research report.
Learning outcomes
Students will engage in activities such as the following - Define a specific research topic - Design a research project - Collect data - Analyze and interpret data - Relate data analysis to social science theory - Write an academic paper introducing and summarizing the research.

Teaching methods
Students participate in individual consultations with the supervisor at all stages of the research.
Assessment methods
The course is based on individual consultations of the student with the supervisor. The supervisor awards credit based on the text submitted by the student to the course's Homework Vault. The course is successfully completed within the regular deadline if the text is submitted on time and meets the program's criteria in terms of content, structure, and style. Students who do not pass the course on time may revise the paper as directed by their advisor and resubmit it no later than two weeks before the end of the semester. In such a case, the thesis defense will take place in the following (or subsequent) semester(s).
