Course objectives
The course introduces the basic features of the work with information. It focuses on the ability to choose appropriate information sources according to the field of study. Students learn practical information retrieval techniques and work with databases. The course also deals with the principles of correct citation and methodology of writing thesis. At the end of this course students will be able to work more effectively with information resources in the field of their study.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will be able to work with various information sources, search in these sources, create search queries, use and work with keywords. They will be able to evaluate the quality of information and correctly cite the documents in their papers according to the given citation standard/citation style.

Teaching methods
The course is based on lectures and practical parts at the computers. Active participation of students in practical exercises is necessary.

For completing the course finishing a practical task and active participation in lectures are required.
