Course objectives
The course is structured as a basic insight into the problematic of international organizations. Typically these are those where the Czech Republic is a member, but not only these. The explanation proceeds across a total of ten organizations, which it divides into logical blocks.
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to achieve the following skills: List the major security and economic international organizations of the globalized world; Define an international organization and have an overview of their typology; Discuss the functions of international organizations in the international system and the evolution of their role in the current problems of world politics; Differentiate between the objectives and understand the limits of organizations; Understand the importance of organisations for the Czech Republic and the implications of our membership;
Syllabus
  • The mainstay of the course is the interactive curriculum. The explanation progresses across a total of ten organisations, which are divided into logical blocks. These are I. Global Organizations (UN) II. regional organisations (EU and Council of Europe) III. economic organisations (OECD, APEC, WTO, IMF, WB, Asia-Pacific Economic Community) IV. security organisations (NATO, OSCE) The division of the organizations into the different weeks is indicated in the table below. Teaching methods
The lessons are accompanied by a ppt and at the end of the lesson a feedback check using KvIS is used. Each section ends with a didactic test. Its aim is to practice the main points of the explanation and to fix the knowledge for the final test. The student can (the tests are optional) take a total of 4 continuous tests, from remote access. The test is administered via v IS answer keys.
Assessment methods
The questions from the voluntary didactic tests are part of the final compulsory multiple choice knowledge test. This is one, at the end of the course. The condition for obtaining the colloquium is meeting the 60% score threshold.
Náhradní absolvování
