- Course objectives
- The aim of the course Production and dramaturgy of cultural events is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for the preparation, implementation and evaluation of cultural events. The course focuses on dramaturgy, production planning and organizational management with an emphasis on creativity, originality and effective work with target audiences.
Students will learn how to create thematic concepts, develop a dramaturgical plan and take into account economic, technological and organizational conditions. Practical skills include budgeting, scheduling, technical support and team management.
The course includes project-based learning in which students create proposals for specific events from concept to implementation. The outcome is the ability to independently design and manage cultural projects with respect to current trends and needs of the cultural sector. - Learning outcomes
- Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- Analyse the dramaturgical and production aspects of cultural events with regard to thematic, artistic and organisational requirements. Propose a dramaturgical concept and production plan for a cultural event, including timing, budget and technical support. Apply the principles of effective communication and teamwork in coordinating the production team and external partners.

- 1. Introduction to dramaturgy and production of cultural events - Basic concepts: dramaturgy, production, event objectives - The role of the dramaturg and producer in the context of cultural projects
- 2. Target audience and defining the event's purpose - Analysis of the target audience and their needs - Defining the artistic and social contribution of the event
- 3. Creation of the dramaturgical concept - Creating the thematic framework and content structure - Combining creative and practical approaches
- 4. Programme composition of a cultural event - Selection of formats, genres and performers - Scheduling the programme with regard to the audience and space
- 5. Spatial and production arrangements for the event - Selection of a suitable space and its adaptation to the concept - Coordination of the technical and organizational team
- 6. Production planning and management - Creating a timetable and resource allocation - Managing teams and effective communication between production members
- 7. Budgeting and financial planning of the dramaturgy - Creating the production budget in accordance with the dramaturgy plan - Consideration of financial limits and resources
- 8. Preparation of dramaturgical and production documentation - Creating dramaturgical plans and scripts - Organisational plans and timetables for implementation teams
- 9. Simulating the organisation of a cultural event - Practical creation of a model project - Collaboration and solving specific dramaturgical challenges
- 10. Presentation of the dramaturgical concept and production plan - Rehearsal of the presentation of proposals to the professional public - Arguing and defending dramaturgical decisions

The contact teaching of the course takes place in the scope of 6 x 100 min./semester (21. 2.,28.2.,21.3.,28.3.,2.5.,9.5.). Other teaching takes the form of homework and self-study. For details see the interactive course syllabus.
With regard to the form of contact teaching, only 1 unexcused absence is allowed for the course. Attendance at the presentation and discussion of the final project is REQUIRED. If the student is not present, the end of the course is graded as FAILED without exception.
