- Course objectives
- The main objective of the course is basic practical skills and orientation in operating various sources of legal information.
After the successful pass of the course a student should be able to:
- find basic legal information on the Internet
- find laws, regulations and other legal documents using system ASPI, Beck-online and Codexis
- evaluate a creditibility and validity of the information
- solve basic legal problems using the legal information systems - Syllabus
- Data, information, knowledge, legal information and their typology. Retrieving legal information via Internet.
- Using ASPI legal information retrieval system, basic workings, underlying principles, contents of the individual modules, retrieving information contained in statutes of law, case law and other legal documents, exercises.
- U sing CODEXIS legal information retrieval system, basic workings, underlying principles, contents of the individual modules, retrieving information contained in statutes of law, case law and other legal documents, exercises.
- Using Beck-online legal information retrieval system, basic workings, underlying principles, contents of the individual modules, retrieving information contained in statutes of law, case law and other legal documents, exercises.

- Teaching methods
- Exercises in computer lab, e-learning materials for home preparations, interactive tests. As the course is primarily skill based students are required to prepare at home using the text book and websites of the systems' distributors (videos and presentations of systems' control).
- Assessment methods
- The attendance is compulsory. The course is followed by a colloquium which consists of six exercises. Details concerning the colloquium pre-requisites and its content are to be found in interactive syllable.
