Course objectives
The purpose of the course of Teaching Assistantship is to create conditions for the involvement of DSP students in pedagogical work, especially by participating in the preparation of study materials, assisting in the organization of teaching and examinations, including state final examinations, and participating in the assessment of written work of master's students so that they gradually prepare for self-directed teaching. The content of the course includes activities of a pedagogical nature which enable students to acquire and develop pedagogical competences and give them access to experience of the pedagogical process in an academic workplace. The aim is to actively try out these activities, to get to know them, to contribute to the development of the corresponding competences on the basis of the experience gained and to be able to obtain and perceive feedback and to draw from it appropriate steps for further improvement.
Learning outcomes
- getting to know the individual components of the pedagogical process at the academic workplace, according to the specific content agreed with the supervisor, gradually in all its phases - gaining some experience on the basis of active participation in this process and on the basis of this the possibility of developing the corresponding competences - getting feedback, the opportunity to try out the subsequent steps in pedagogical practice
Syllabus
  • The specific content of the course and the requirements for its completion are specified in the semester content of the individual study plan. It includes participation in the organizational and content preparation of teaching and teaching materials and participation in the organizational and content preparation and implementation of examinations, but especially preparation for and then the actual involvement in direct teaching under the mentorship of an authorized academic staff member, so that students are gradually able to independently conduct teaching, usually in an area more broadly related to the topic of the dissertation or chosen specialization in the field. To this end, the student seeks and receives feedback and responds to it. The student's involvement in direct teaching is normally preceded first by passive participation (listening in on lessons), participation in lesson preparation and consultation on lesson content. It is also preceded by an analysis of the student's baseline level of competence, so that specific activities can be targeted to develop those competences that a particular student needs to develop most.
