Course objectives
This course is practical complement of the MP511Zk course. Its aim is to deepen the theoretical knowledge in the area of IP protection and to teach students how to apply IP laws in practice . The attention is paid to all basic forms of protection, namely: protection of creative work (copyright) protection of technical solutions (patent law and utility models), the protection of signs of services and products (trademark law), protection of the appearance of the product (design rights). After the successful completion of this course the student should have the understanding of basic principles of intellectual property rights in practice and should be able to take the appropriate legal steps in the area of legal protection of intangible assets.
Special attention is paid to the procedural aspects of IPR protection.

Teaching methods
Course consists of interactive seminars, which enhances practical skills (search in databases, submitting the relevant applications, proposals for cancellation or invalidity, dispositions of intellectual property rights [transfer / licensing], moot-court etc.) Students are also expected to prepare their homework - mainly study of selected case-law and prepare draft of actions. As a communication platform between teachers and students serves the interactive e-learning in MU Information System, published course materials, case law, and presentations.
