- Course objectives
- The purpose of the subject is to explain fundamental issues of the international protection of human rights. For this educative and intelectual purpose the example of the 1950 Convention on Human Rights is taken.
- Syllabus
- 1. Nature and purpose of the 1950 European Convention on Human Rights (interpretation) 2. Human Rights and human values 3. Jurisdiction of the contracting parties and human rights 4. Some human rights and their nature (hard-core of human rights) 5. The right not to be tortured 6. The right to personal freedom 7. The right to fair trial 8. The right to privacy and family life 9. Freedom of expression 10. Inter-state an individual complaints 11. Scrutiny of cases.
