- Course objectives
- The aim of the course it to help students become familiar with fundamental juridical institutes, their operation, and introduce students to main characteristics of significant juridical sectors. Students shall become familiar with the fundamental juridical terminology and be able to understand the legal systems of the Czech Republic and the European Union.
- Syllabus
- 1. The concept, fundamentals and functions of law. Domestic law. European law. International law. Their inter-relations. Basic juridical terms.
- 2. Sources of law and their structure. System of law, hierarchy of the legal norms.
- 3. Modern Czech Law. 4. Constitutional order of the Czech Republic. Constitution of the Czech Republic. List of Basic Rights and Freedoms. Fundamental domestic institutions.
- 5. Scheme of the courts. System of the prosecution. The Public Defender of Rights. Alternative dispute resolution. Providors of the legal services in CR. Legal profession, notary’s office, tax consulting, court executors.
- 6. Domestic, international and European law.
- 7. Basics of civil law - persons.
- 8. Basics of civil law – tenure, liabilities.
- 9. Basics of the labour law – emergence, change and termination of employment, content of labour-law relations.
- 10. Basics of social law.
- 11. Tax, tax administration and tax proceedings.
- 12. Basics of criminal law.
