- Cíle předmětu
- The course is designed to introduce, analyse and critically discuss selected disruptive technologies. Every issue selected for current run of the course will be discussed in-depth with regard to both the general (e.g. regulation, contracts) and specific (e.g. regulation of AI, smart contracts) legal concepts.
This course does not provide an overview of ICT Law, but aims at critical analysis, in-depth discussion and conceptualization of current regulatory challenges of disruptive technologies. - Výstupy z učení
- At the end of the course, students are expected (with regard to the specific technology) to be able to:
- identify related legal concepts (both general and specific),
- explain and critically discuss related policy and societal challenges,
- explain and critically discuss related legal challenges. - Osnova
- In Autumn 2021, the course will consist of two topics organised into three seminars each.
- (i) Regulation of Artificial Intelligence
- 1. Introduction to Artificial Intelligence – basic conceptual aspects of artificial intelligence and machine learning (types of learning, evaluation), legal challenges and relevant technical concepts (bias, explainable AI, adversary attacks, machine)
- 2. Regulation of AI – introduction and discussion of national and international strategies and guidelines vis-á-vis general issues of regulation of the (use of) technology
- 3. EU Artificial Intelligence Act – analysis and discussion of the Proposal for a Regulation on a European Approach for Artificial Intelligence
- (ii) Blockchain
- 1. Introduction to Blockchain – basic conceptual aspects of distributed ledger technologies, relevant regulatory challenges, applicable legal Framework and current proposals of comprehensive legal regulation (proposal for Regulation on Markets in Crypto-assets, MICA)
- 2. Smart Contracts – legal framing of machine-readable algorithmic representation of contracts with potential for automated management and self-execution of the contractual obligations; potential impact on contract law
- 3. Applications – legal aspects of blockchain and smart contracts in current (cryptocurrencies, ICOs of NFTs) or planned (land registry, bill of landing, central-bank backed digital currency) applications

Compulsory reading.
Preparation and discussion of position papers. - Metody hodnocení
- Students will be evaluated upon actively participating in the seminars, completing the compulsory reading, and submitting two position papers (approx. 5 pages each)
