- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to prepare students for the presentation of legal topics for non-legal audiences.
- Learning outcomes
- The course will focus on preparing students of the Faculty of Law for the presentation of legal topics to non-legal audiences (eg teaching at secondary schools).
In the first part of the course, students will acquire the skills needed to master the role of a lecturer, such as a teacher in secondary school teaching the basics of social sciences (or selected legal topics), then apply these skills in teaching (eg in partner secondary schools). An integral part of the course is individual feedback and group reflection on teaching.
After completing the course the student will be able to:
prepare a presentation of a legal topic for a non-legal audience
teach well in terms of form and content
respond well to questions in the discussion. - Syllabus
- 1. Basics of pedagogical work and basics of street law method. Types of teaching activities (2 seminars).
- 2. Practical presentation of students on their own topic in the range of 10 minutes + feedback (2 seminars).
- 3. Reflection of the practice presentation - strengths and weaknesses, problem solving (2 seminars).
- 4. Presentation of external teachers and subsequent discussion - experience with the street law project at other universities (2 seminars).
- 5. Teaching at partner secondary schools (4 seminars) with the following content:
- a. Law as a social phenomenon. Types of legal branches; practical examples.
- b. Crimes and misdemeanors. Functions of various sanctions. (Fundamentals of Public Law.)
- c. Autonomy of will and its limits. Citizen, employee, businessman, consumer. (Fundamentals of Private Law.)
- d. Legal professions, professional ethics
- 6. Ongoing consultations of master students with teachers. Teaching reflection (2 seminars).

- V interaktivní osnově budou studentům k dispozici studijní materiály.
- Teaching methods
- In the first 4 modules, there will be a theoretical part of teaching, which will prepare students for their work in secondary schools. It will take the form of group dialogue.
Subsequently, teaching will take place in the form of listening (as part of teaching at high school), individual feedback and group reflections in seminars. - Assessment methods
- Semester project: preparation and implementation of teaching legal topics in high school and final reflection.
