Course objectives
The course is a part of the topical complex Preparation of Dissertation Thesis I. Its purpose is to gather materials for key points of the dissertational thesis, research and elaboration of summary of attained level of knowledge. The specific content of the course and the requirements for its completion are always based on the individual study plan and are listed in the semester content. The content of the course usually involves continuing to study relevant sources (and searching for more). In relation to the defined objectives and questions, appropriate methods of solving them are sought (if they have not already been definitively defined earlier) and a concrete solution concept is developed, including thinking about the appropriate structure of the thesis, taking into account the feedback received in previous semesters. The course aims to make progress in these areas while developing the student's relevant skills.
Learning outcomes
The specific outcomes are always based on the individual study plan and its semester content. They are determined according to the principles set by the departmental board of the relevant programme. Unless otherwise stipulated by this procedure, the outputs usually include: - advanced knowledge of the current state of knowledge in the field of research focus based on the study of literature - search for additional sources - more specific idea of the methods of solving the defined questions and the overall concept of the thesis, including its appropriate structure - consideration of the feedback received and, with its help, the development of appropriate skills - preparation of written outputs (partial publications or working texts, including preparation for the elaboration of the thesis)
Syllabus
  • The curriculum is prepared individually in agreement with the supervisor as part of the semester-long individual study plan. It usually involves continuing to study relevant sources and searching for others, specifying the method of addressing the defined questions (if they have not already been definitively specified earlier), and developing a specific solution concept, including thinking about the appropriate structure of the thesis, taking into account the feedback received during the discussion meeting in the previous semester. Consultation with the supervisor and others is ongoing. Interim theses and main ideas are consulted. Depending on the circumstances, the production of a part of the working text - e.g. one of the (introductory) chapters or a part of it - is already required, which is usually conveniently linked to the simultaneous fulfilment of publication obligations (or their preparation).
