Basic orientation in international procedural law. - Course Enrolment Limitations

- Course objectives
- The aim of this course is to theoretically analyse the key institutes of international procedural law, in particular international jurisdiction of courts, recognition of foreign judgments, legal aid, treatment of foreign authentic instruments, lis pendens. The primary aim of this course is not to analyse in detail particular legal regulations of these institutes, but the doctrine and principles which state behind these regulations.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course students should be able:
to identify the fundamental principles of international procedural law and to characterize them; to characterize how are the principles reflected in the regulation of particular institutes; to explain the notion of international jurisdiction; to characterize the conception of the regulation of international jurisdiction in national and EU law; to characterize the approaches to the recognition of foreign judgments including the history and reflection in present regulations; to explain the sense and basic principles of legal aid; to explain the need and ways of treatment with foreign public instruments; to explain possible approaches to the regulation of lis pendens. - Syllabus
