Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able:
To define general concepts of weapons and ammunition and sources of it regulation;
To analyze a cohesion of legal regulation of weapons and political and social situation;
To compare a legal regulation of holding weapons in Czech law and in chosen foreign law;
To comprehend the concepts of self-defence, necessity, lawful use of weapons etc.;
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students will be able to:
- Understand the importance of the right to hold firearms for the democracy
- Indentify types of firearms and describe their legal status
- Distinguish the situation of necessity and self-defense
- Summarize the historical development of legal basis for holding firearms and analyze its changes in connection to the changes in political system
Syllabus
  • 1. Definition of the weapon.
  • 2. Legal regulation of holding weapons in antique.
  • 3. Legal regulation of holding weapons in medieval.
  • 4. A concept of prohibited weapons and its development.
  • 5. Using of arms by police, gendarmerie etc.
  • 6. Using of arms by army.
  • 7. Armament certificate.
  • 8. Holding and carrying of weapons.
  • 9. Hunting, weapons, chase.
  • 10. Export and import of weapons.
  • 11. Foreign legal regulation – comparing of a legal regulation in EU states.
  • 12. Unlawful holding of weapons.
