- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to provide students with basic orientation in operating legal information retrieval systems with particular regards to public administration. After the successful completion of the course the student will be able to:
- retrieve basic information on the Internet.
- understand the basic workings of ASPI, CODEXIS and Beck-online legal information retrieval systems.
- evaluate the retrieved information with regards to their accuracy and correctness.
- retrieve and process the sources of information useful in the course of study.
- produce a professional recherché.
- cite sources of information correctly. - Syllabus
- Data, information, knowledge, legal information, legal information systems, legal order of the Czech Republic and selected European countries as an information system, publishing platforms of Czech and European Union law.
- Fundamental linguistic concepts, natural language processing issues, approaches to their solution.
- Librarian sources of information, citing sources and citation standards, professional scientific databases.
- ASPI, Beck-online and CODEXIS legal information systems latest improvements with particular regards to public and autonomous administration.
- Access to case law and professional literature using legal information systems and public registers.
- Access to European and international law and law of selected countries, EUR-lex, accessory tools useful in legal practice - template contracts, calculators, etc.

- Teaching methods
- Lectures supplemented with e-learning materials, blind tests.
- Assessment methods
- The course can be successfully finished by passing a colloquium. Prerequisite for the access to the colloquium is a completion of several blind tests during the semester. The colloquium consist of production of a recherché on a selected topic. Further information will be provided in the interactive syllabus.
