- Course objectives
- The purpose of this course is to inform students about role and tasks of advocacy in the Czech republic, including its perspectives in the European Union.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course students should be able to:
explain the conception of advocacy;
understand the history of advocacy in the Czech countries;
define the organization of advocacy;
analyse the conditions for practicing the advocacy;
describe the status of a advocate and of a legal trainee, their rights and duties;
understand the Czech advocacy in the European Union - Syllabus
- Introduction, material and formal conception of advocacy, numerus clausus;
- The Czech Bar Association and its bodies;
- Advocacy in Czech countries from the oldest times up until today;
- Advocacy and conditions for its practicing;
- Forms of practicing the advocacy;
- Rights and duties of a advocate according to the Act on the advocacy and Ethics code I.;
- Rights and duties of a advocate according to the Act on the advocacy and Ethics code II.;
- Disciplinary proceedings;
- A legal trainee and his relation to the employer and to the Czech Bar Association;
- Attorney fees and basic rules of leading of a law office;
- Perspectives of Czech advocacy in the European Union
