- Course objectives
- Objective of the course is to enhance the knowledge of EU law in the area of external trade regulation and foreign policy. Course is designed for students of legal specialisation "international trade". It is also suitable for students of economics.
- Learning outcomes
- The student will have good orientation in the Czech Republic and the EU's foreign trade legislation. He will be able to classify individual cases and identify and find relevant regulations as well as international agreements. He will also understand the context and why trade relations with certain countries are being set up accordingly.
- Syllabus
- (1) The internal market - bases and principles
- (2) The external trade policy - basic characteristic
- (3) The competence of the European Union in the field of foreign trade
- (4) Customs Union. Prohibition of customs duties and charges having equivalent effect within the European Union. External tariff policy.
- (5) The European Union in the context of WTO law
- (6) The common commercial policy of the European Union. Autonomous tools, duties, import and export goods to the European Union.
- (7) The common commercial policy of the European Union. International agreement, overview of EU relations with the most important trading partners
- (8) The European Economic Area, relations with developing countries and the European Association Agreement
- (9) Permissible restrictions on international trade, protective measures
- (10) Protection against trade barriers
- (11) Anti-dumping measures, state aid
- (12) The legal status of the Czech Republic before and after joining the European Union. Comparison of trade arrangements with the Member States of the European Union (overview), and regulation of international trade with non-member states, the powers of the Czech Republic in international trade
