- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to introduce students to the logical foundations of legal argumentation.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon completion of the course, the student will know: a) the basics of legal argumentation b) the basics of logic c) the basics of metaethics.
- Syllabus
- Lectures: 1) Introductory lecture 2) What is argumentation? 3) Logic as the theory of consequence 4) Deduction, induction, abduction 5) Hume's thesis 6) Theories of truth 7) Legal concepts - inferentialism 8) Vagueness 9) Fundamentals of metaethics 10) Application of metaethics in legal thinking 11) Discursive dilemma 12) Final lecture
