Course objectives
It is a descriptive course concerning the public economic law in Poland (including EU law). It is an introductory course providing students with basic information concerning economic activity and entrepreneurs in Poland and the EU. The aim of the course is to introduce the students to the main ideas, knowledge, and trends of the legal aspects of economic activity in Poland and the EU. The course presents the origins of public economic law in Poland and the basic terminology in this field. In this course, students will be acquainted with the most important issues in the field of the undertaking, conducting, and terminating economic activity in Poland and the EU.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
- understand and explain the interaction between European and national (polish and Czech) economic law;
- work with information on current issues in the field of European economic law and business activity;
- make reasoned decisions about the development trends of economic law;
- make deductions based on acquired knowledge ... ;
- interpret the basic principles of searching for appropriate European Union legal acts regarding economic law; interpret and explain the meaning of specific legal norms and the mutual relations between these norms within a economic law.
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction to economic law (basic definitions; the scope of public economic law; legal sources of polish and EU public economic law, basic principles and issues of public economic law in Poland and the EU)
  • 2. The concept of economic activity in polish law (definition; exclusion of certain economic activities; suspension and resumption of economic activity; economic activity in EU law)
  • 3. Entrepreneur in Polish law (entrepreneur in EU law; categories of entrepreneurs in Poland; definition; micro, small and medium entrepreneurs)
  • 4. Obligations at undertaking, conducting, and terminating economic activity in Poland and EU law (the essence of limits on the freedom of economic activity; general conditions of starting and running an economic activity in Poland) and obligations of the state to entrepreneurs and business
  • 5. The economic activity of foreign entities on the territory of the Republic of Poland
