Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to master the professional language - Spanish. The prerequisite is the reading of Spanish specialist literature from the range of the studied scientific field in the range of at least 150 pages. The topic is related to the candidate's particular studied specialization. The student will be able to compose a simple written presentation (e.g. a résumé of a doctoral thesis, an essay, a research proposal for a dissertation), perform an analysis of a selected professional text and its interpretation, lead a discussion on a professional issue and make an argument.
Learning outcomes
The student will prove that s/he is able to compose a simple written text (e.g. a summary of a doctoral thesis, an essay, a research proposal for a dissertation), to analyze a selected professional text and its interpretation, to lead a discussion on a professional issue and to make an argument.
Syllabus
  • Professional topic according to the focus of doctoral studies. The subject of study is the student's professional specialization with a focus on the topic of his/her dissertation, the issue of the scientific field and his/her own professional application. 1. Reading of a professional text in Spanish on the topic of the dissertation 2. Presentation of the topic of the dissertation 3. Discussion of the progress of the work, research, results and the literature read. 4. Written materials in the Spanish language: summary of the literature read, key terminology, brief information on the topic of the dissertation

Teaching methods
Independent study of professional literature related to the topic of the doctoral thesis. Consultation with the teacher. Analysis of the selected professional text and its interpretation. Discussion of professional issues. Argumentation.
Assessment methods
Credit is awarded on the basis of an assessment of a written presentation: - a résumé or an essay related to the studied literature or a dissertation (600-700 words) - a list of key terminology (50 terms) and a discussion of the dissertation project.

Teacher's information
Literature (specialized legal texts in Spanish) is chosen by the candidate himself/herself, in agreement with his/her supervisor. S/He will hand over the processed written documents to the teacher well in advance of the credit deadline.
