Course objectives
To provide the student with an understanding of the principles of health risk assessment and prevention.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student understands the basic principles of prevention of the most important health risks.
The student understands the basic principles of health risk assessment and the system of epidemiological studies.
Syllabus
  • 1. Prevention. Man and environment: types, objectives and methods of work; epidemiological studies.
  • 2. Health risk assessment.
  • 3. The most important risks from a public health perspective.
  • 4. Nutritional recommendations: principles of development and their physiological relevance; prevention programs to support nutritional recommendations.
  • 5. Major non-communicable diseases of mass incidence, risks, prevention.
  • 6. Selected cardiovascular diseases: epidemiology, etiology, prevention.
  • 7. Major cancers: cancer of the kidney and bladder, pancreas, reproductive system, gastrointestinal system (stomach, intestine, rectum), lymphatic system and blood - epidemiology, etiology, prevention.
