- Syllabus
- BASIC MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY - seminar. Syllabus. 1st week: Introduction to the study of the subject: significance and contents of the course, methodological instructions, study literature. Characteristics of graphical and acoustic form of Latin. Selected Greek sounds, transcription into Latin.
- 2nd week: Basic nominal categories and their specific features in medical terminology. Latin and Greek nouns of 1st declension (a-stems), adjectives of 1st declension.
- 3rd week: Syntactic structure of multiple medical terms, basic types of domination relations, close and loose attributes, word order. Latin and Greek nouns of 2nd declension (o-stems), adjectives of 2nd declension.
- 4th week: Word-forming characteristics of one-word terms, overview of basic models. Latin nouns of 3rd declension (consonant stems and i-stems).
- 5th week: The language of medicine with its functions and characteristics. Greek nouns of 3rd declension (consonant stems and i-stems).
- 6th week: Supplementing of the subject matter.
- 7th week: Medical terms - their etymology and definition. Adjectives of 3rd declension (three-termination, two-termination, one-termination types).
- 8th week: Renowned personalities of medicine in ancient history, historical aspects of medical terminology against the background of the history of medicine. Latin nouns of 4th declension (u-stems).
- 9th week: History of anatomical nomenclature - BNA, JNA, PNA. Latin nouns of 5th declension (e-stems).
- 10th week: Present form of anatomical nomenclature - NA, TA. Comparison of adjectives (regular, irregular, defective, periphrastic).
- 11th week: Present state of clinical terminology. The most common adverbs: formation and comparison.
- 12th week: Eponyms. Prepositions and selected conjunctions.
- 13th week: The mechanism of application of close and loose attributes in NA. Numerals (cardinal, ordinal, distributive, multiple, numeral adverbs): formation and declension.
- 14th week: Final summary.
- 15th week: Credit acknowledgement.

- Povinná účast na seminářích vyplývá ze studijního řádu. Tolerují se maximálně dvě řádně omluvené absence; nejlépe je neúčast nahradit v nejbližším vhodném termínu.
Výuka je ukončena zápočtem (z) udělovaným na základě řádné docházky a úspěšného vypracování zápočtového testu, zaměřeného převážně na jmennou flexi. - Language of instruction
