- Syllabus
- Occupational diseases. Diagnoses, occupational and environmental history. A physical examination, laboratory tests, primary prevention, secondary prevention, tertiary prevention. Occupational pulmonary diseases. Occupational asthma (OA): etiological causes. Diagnostic procedure for OA.Treatment. Pulmonary diseases due to toxic inhalants. Metal fume fever. Chemical pneumonitis (acute toxic lung injury). Pneumoconioses. Silicosis, exposure, pathology,clinical spectrum, complications, differential diagnoses, treatment. Coal workerś pneumoconiosis. Asbestos-related pulmonary disease, exposure, asbestosis, benign pleural processes, mesothelioma and bronchogenic carcinoma.Carcinoma of the respiratory tract.Occupational skin disorders. Occupational dermatitis, occupational cutaneous infections, chloracne, cutaneous malignancy, additional occupational dermatoses. Health effects of ionizing radiation, acute radiation syndromes, protection. Occupational hearing loss - noise induced hearing loss, audiometry, differential diagnosis, hearing protection. Disorders due to vibration. Whole body vibration, segmental vibration, hand arm vibration syndrome, vibration induced white finger, neuropathy of the median and ulnar nerves, changes in the musculo-skeletal system. Diagnosis, prevention, treatment. Cumulative trauma disorders. Carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar neuropathy, tarsal tunnel syndrom, lateral epicondylitis, chronic tendinitis and tenosynovitis of the upper extremity, rotator cuff syndrome, osteoarthrosis, meniscal lesions. Chemical asphyxiants. Carbon monoxide - uses, metabolism, acute and chronic poisoning, treatment. Hydrogen cyanide - metabolism, acute and chronic poisoning, treatment. Hydrogen sulphide - metabolism, acute,chronic poisoning, treatment. Insectidies. Organophosphates - metabolism, acute,chronic poisoning, biological monitoring, treatment. Herbicides. Paraquat, diquat. Organic solvents. Aromatic hydrocarbons - benzene,toluene, xylene. Chlorinated hydrocarbons, carbon tetrachloride, trichloroethylene.
