Course objectives
Main objectives may be summarized as follows:
to be able to communicate accurately and concisely with medical professionals using anatomical terminology; to describe components and organization of the nervous system; to know distribution of the grey matter of the central nervous system; to explain general anatomy and organization of the autonomic nervous system; to know anatomy and basic functions of the senses; to describe spatial and functional relationships among anatomical structures using a regional approach to the study of human anatomy; to identify components of the nervous system demonstrated by basic imaging methods.

  • 2. Structure of the spinal cord II. Structure of the brain stem I. Topographic anatomy of the head II.
  • 3. Structure of the brain stem II. Topographic anatomy of the neck .
  • 4. Cranial nerves III., IV., VI., VII. Topographic anatomy of the mediastinum I.
  • 5. Cranial nerve V. Topographic anatomy of the mediastinum II.
  • 6. Cranial nerves IX., X., XI., XII. Topographic anatomy of the mediastinum III.
  • 7. Structure of the cerebellum. Structure of the diencephalon I. Topographic anatomy of the abdomen I.

Assessment methods
Final examination
The final examination in Anatomy consists of a practical and a theoretical part. To pass successfully the exam, the student has to obtain at least the grade E in both practical and theoretical parts of the final examination.
The practical part of final examination is represented by the results of the examinations in Anatomy II - Dissection and Anatomy III - Dissection. The student, who has not obtained at least grade E during above-mentioned courses, will be re-examined at the respective date of the theoretical part of the final examination in Anatomy.
The theoretical part of final examination first proceeds in the form of a test with subsequent oral examination. To be entitled to proceed to oral examination, the student has to obtain at least 12 out of 16 points in the test. In the course of oral examination the student answers 4 questions selected by lot out of 4 preannounce sets of questions and presents an anatomical description of the imaging technique.
Anatomy I - seminar
A precondition for obtaining the course-unit credit is 95% attendance at the seminars (1 non-attendance tolerated).
Anatomy II – seminar
A precondition for obtaining the course-unit credit is 95% attendance at the seminars (1 non-attendance tolerated) and demonstration of the basic knowledge of the semester schoolwork in the form of 3 tests, each containing 10 questions (each correctly answered question is evaluated by 1 point). A minimum of 6 out of 10 possible points in each test is required for fulfillment. For unsuccessful students a resit date will be offered; for its fulfillment it is necessary to obtain a minimum of 6 out of 10 possible points in the test.
Anatomy III – seminar
A precondition for obtaining the course-unit credit is 95% attendance at the seminars (1 non-attendance tolerated).
Anatomy II - Dissection
A precondition for obtaining the course-unit credit is 100% attendance. The results of examination at the close of the practicals will be included in the results of the practical part of the final examination in Anatomy.
Anatomy III- dissection
A precondition for obtaining the course-unit credit is 100% attendance. The results of examination at the close of the practicals will be included in the results of the practical part of the final examination in Anatomy.
