- Course objectives
- At the end of the course students should be able to: understand and explain basics of neuroanatomy and neurophysiology; work with information on nervous system to clinical aplications; create the idea about the spectrum of paraclinical examinations in neurology; make reasoned decisions about research possibilities.
- Syllabus
- 1. Definition of the neurology. Interdisciplinary cooperation. The history taking. The basics of the nervous system (neuron, neuromuscular end-plate, neurotransmitters). 2. Paraclinical examinations in neurology I. Xray, CT, DSA, MR, PET and SPECT (the basics and principles). 3. Praclinical examinations in neurology II. Ultrasound (extracranial, intracranial). 4. Paraclinical examinations in neurology III. Functional MRI, the principles, clinical and scientific use. 5. Paraclinical examinations in neurology IV. MR spectroscopy. The principles, clinical and scientific use. 6. Paraclinical examinations in neurology- neurophysiology I. EEG, the activation techniques, intracranial EEG, the combinations with other techniques. 7. Paraclinical examinations in neurology- neurophysiology II. EMG, the principles and clinical indications. 8.Paraclinical examinations in neurology- neurophysiology III. EP, the principles and clinical indications. 9. Paraclinical examinations in neurology- neurophysiology IV. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). The principles, paired TMS, repetitive TMS. 10. Paraclinical examinations in neurology- the examination of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). Lumbar puncture. The analysis of the CSF.
