- Course objectives
- This course aims to equip students with the theoretical knowledge of contents, mission and basic methods of social medicine as well as with the knowledge of measuring and evaluation of health condition of the population. By the end of this course students should be able to: define, calculate and interpret the basic indicators of the health condition of the population and use them for the evaluation of the health condition of the population; define and choose appropriate indicators of morbidity, calculate them and interpret the obtained results; propose and plan population study, formulate conclusions, assess health risks and propose suitable measures to improve the health of the population; on the basis of examples of identification and on the basis of dealing with health problems should have the basis of statistical and systemic thinking in medicine; the basis of methods of critical appraisal of population studies results and consequent organizational measures.
