- Course objectives
- The aim of this course is to introduce students into the field of nutrition. The main aim of this course is the nutrition of various groups such as age-based groups, pregnant women etc. that nutrition therapists come into contact with most often. The course also deals with dietology that is to be found in hospitals. The course is not only composed of lectures, but of practical exercises as well. Students passing this course should be able to deal with the main issues concerning nutrition of people of all ages, critically assess particular diet problem, adequately evaluate it and suggest suitable solutions.

- Lecture topics: - carbohydrates, lipids, proteins - vitamins, minerals - energy balance, food pyramid, 24 hour recall - liquid intake - nutrition of a nurslings up to 6 months of age - nutrition of children from 6 months of age - nutrition of pubescents - nutrition of a adults - nutrition of elderly people - nutrition of women in a preconception period, pregnancy and during lactation - food intake disorders – obesity, mental anorexia and bulimia - alternative approaches to nutrition - hospital nutrition system
