- Optometry (programme LF, N-SZ)
- Course objectives
- After passing the course, students should be able to describe and explain construction of basic optical systems (refractive and reflective telescopes, microscope..), to discuss the level of approximation needed for description of these systems properties, and to apply the systems in practice.
- Syllabus
- Geometric optics, law of refraction, Material and optical constant of lenses, convexity, plane-parallel layer, prism and wedge prism, minimum deviation, construction of picture in imaging by spherical surface, sign convention, subject and image space, visual display by thin lens, thick lens, principal/ node/ focus point/ plane. Paraxial approximation, matrix formalism, calculation of optical system. Magnification of image, magnifier, ( two modes of observation), telescope (Galileo, Kapler, Newton), microscope, fronto - focimeter.
