- Objective of the course At the end of the course the student is able - to define the the basic psychic functions - to understand the disturbance od the basic psychic functions - to describe the manifestation of the most common psychiatric disorders - ti evaluate therapeutic possibilities

- Course objectives
- Within the course students are getting acquainted with the position of psychiatry in medicine. They are getting knowledge about psychiatric disorders, their clinical manifestation, treatment and nursing. In the sphere of special psychiatry the most frequent psychiatric disorders and treatment methods (including biological treatment) are presented. Emphasis is putting on principles of targeted communication with persons suffering from mental disorders both adults and children. The aim of study subject is to enlarge and deepen students knowledge.
- Syllabus
- Introduction to psychiatry, history of psychiatry, classification of mental disorders. Examination methods in psychiatry; biological treatment methods and the foundations of pharmacotherapy. Schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder and delusional disorder with - etiology, diagnosis, therapy. Mood disorders, affective disorders - etiology, diagnosis, therapy. Neurotic, stress-related disorders - etiology, diagnosis, therapy. Eating Disorders - etiology, diagnosis therapy. Personality and behavior among adults - etiology, diagnosis, therapy. Pedopsychiatry

- Teaching is based on lectures with interactive features. A more detailed literature deaing with specil issues is recommended
