- CJVAT01 English - entrance test
At the beginning of the course, the participants have reached at least B1 CEFR level. The first year of the study programme gives future participants an opportiny to increase their knowledge up to the desired entry level, if the participants feel they do not move around and at the given level. - Course Enrolment Limitations

- Course objectives
- At the end of the course students should be able to describe and explain terms related to body systems (namely skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular, hematic), their organs, functions and disorders; use practical medical vocabulary (namely the language of communication in hospital, surgery, and when examining patients; language of describing treatment, medication, medical instruments, and machines); should be able to apply medical language in doctor-patient communication, interpret medical texts; use grammatical structures typical for medical language.
- Syllabus
- 1. týden: Úvod do studia anglického jazyka, e-learningová podpora předmětu, požadavky, hodnocení, doporučená literatura a jiné studijní zdroje.
- 2. týden: The Human Body. Téma: Naming Parts of the Body.
- 3. týden: Examining a Patient. Taking a History. Téma: At the Doctor's.
- 4. týden: Muscular and Skeletal Systems - Anatomy.
- 5. týden: Muscular and Skeletal Systems - Pathological Conditions.
- 6. týden: Cardiovascular and Hematic Systems - Anatomy. Téma: Injuries.
- 7. týden: Opakovací test
- 8. týden: Cardiovascular and Hematic Systems. Pathological Conditions.
- 9. týden: Opakování probratné látky
- 10. týden: Zápočtový test
- Probírané gramatické jevy: trpný rod, vztažné věty, tvorba otázek.
- Kromě výše uvedených tématických okruhů a gramatických jevů je výuka také zaměřena na osvojení komunikativních dovedností - tj. mluvení, poslech, čtení, psaní.

- Assessment methods
- Attendance is compulsory. Two absences are tolerated provided a letter of excuse is handed in at the Department of Studies. It is highly recommended to make up for the absence in the same week. Assessment is based on the results of the credit test (score - minimum 65%) and attendance. Students get two credits for successful completion of the course.
